Cool Online Music Tools

We all have a special sense for music and when it comes to creating a music tune we all do good, even we don't have the basic knowledge of musical theory. It's fun to play with and makes us, if even for a moment be like children again. Sometimes we end up wondering how we came up creating such a fine tune, and then ask ourselves if we really don't have the stuff to be a producer :) Here are a few cool webpages I found, where you can do just that.

1. The Tone Matrix - is a cool synthesizer where sounds are reproduced in real-time. Makes allot of fun !

2. The Hobnox Audiotool - also linked on the previous site - is a complex tool, equipped with a rhythm maker, synths, a drum machine and effects , all accessible from your web browser. It is one of the best electronic music makers out there, but requires a bit of prior knowledge about music theory.

3. Orbs - another interesting flash music game. Here, the musical scales are represented in a circle, which makes things a bit different.

4. VirtualPiano - the title defines it totally. A simple Piano, really something for the starters.

5. FL Sequencer - those who are familiar with FruityLoops will recognize this immediately. A nicely concepted Sequencer, suitable for creating a short rhythm or tune.

6. JamStudio - this online music composer relies mainly on available music samples, which can be played on different scales. It gives your song a very realistic sounding and makes in the end a slight feeling of pride , that you maneged to create such a professional song :)

This list is certainly not complete, so expect to be upgraded at some time in the future.

Let's get it down !

I know there are tons of list out there giving you site where you can download mp3's. What I don't like about those lists is that they are to long! You will never stick to the all the links they are giving you and most of them are to complex. So this are the ones I use. Simple and absolutely free!

www.skreemr.com - This is my first choice. When I don't find what I need I go to:
www.tagoo.ru - Yes, it's a Russian site but don't despond, it is translated in English and German. An excellent choice too. OK, so I still don't find the song I want! I try lastly:
beemp3.com - Why don't I let the bee's get my music ? If it still didn't fulfill my wishes I use the big machinery (If it is not here It isn't pretty much anywhere on the Internet to find)
www.torrentz.com - I cheated, I know but it seems there's no other way! This will surely get what you desire, be it only one song (you can select what files you want before the torrent starts to download).
Hoped it helped you in your quest !

P.S. Fancy looking mp3 player, isn't it ?

Does music show how smart we are ?

A
cording to a "study"( no scientific one) made by a CalTech grad student named Virgil Griffith regarding music preferences of individuals compared to their SAT scores showed that the "brainiacs" listen to Beethoven while those who barely take the Test prefer listening to Lil Wayne or Beyonce. My personal take on this is that, sure, the quality of the music you listen to gives a hint to what kind of person you are and that people who show greater intelligence tend to listen rather to classical music then any other genre. Because, personally, I can not imagine someone reading Richard Feynman's books to listen to Reggaeton music. Also music, through the lyrics, can have a powerful effect on the psyche, but not far as to dumb people down.

Can one's intelligence be "measured" by the kind of music they listen to ? Can music dull your mind ? Is your favorite band in this chart ? What is your opinion ?

The Mozart Effect

Mozart - everybody heard this name. This musical genius is known worldwide for his sonata's and symphonies (die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni etc.) , but how many of you know about the benefits of listening to his compositions ? It's called - already guessed it - The Mozart effect and is believed to induce a improvement in the brains ability to visualize patterns and to manage visual information - thus helping you orientate better, thinking 3D - what is known as spatial intelligence. But, as studies have shown, listening to Mozart doesn't actually make you smarter! Which is somewhat, not that surprising. After all, we all listen to music, may it be country, hip-hop or rock music. Has it helped us pass the exams ? It didn't helped me!
